I was able to boot up just fine, so I decided to try again with a different partition image. I restored from a 320G partition image, which went without any issues. I used slightly different sizes, 250MB /boot then the balance was put in the volume group, 4GB for swap, and the rest for the root LV. I use LVM, so I carved up the space almost identical to the original setup.

I carved up a system that has a 320GB hard drive in it. So can't I carve up the F/S, first, and then in expert mode, pick just to do a resotre withoput creating a partition table? If so, which options should I select, and which ones should I unselect? I'm assuming that the majority of these systems all have the same size drive, so I should be able to restore from one of the first two system images, but I'm beginning to wonder how many will have different sized drives so I was wondering, can I first boot up on a rescue cd, carve up the file system to what will fit that drive, and then restore the image? I know the installation of the OS only takes up a few GB, not the entire 320 or 500G of the drive. The third machine had a 320GB drive, so I was able to restore the image to it. Obviously, I can't restore a 500GB image to a 320GB image, so I spent time setting up another machine and made an image of it. The second machine that I grabbed had a 320GB drive. I installed my OS and configured it the way that I wanted. However, the first machine that I grabbed had a 500GB drive in it. They are identacal systems, and I had assumed that included the hard drives.
